Italian cities
Essays on Italian art and towns by the American muralist Edwin Howland Blashfield and his wife Evangeline, published by Scribner's in New York in 1903 for American travellers and art readers. The plates are soft grey halftones of Renaissance frescoes and church interiors — Raphael's Stanze, apse mosaics, vaulted naves — useful for crowd groupings, ornamental arch borders and dome-and-vault architectural framing.
