Bornitz, Jakob, ca. 1560-1625, Bourgeat, Ludwig, d. 1714, printer · 1664 · Heidelbergae : Apud Ludovicum Bourgeat bibliopolam · 107 pictures

A Latin emblem book by the jurist Jakob Bornitz on ethics and politics, printed at Heidelberg by Ludwig Bourgeat in 1664 for scholarly and courtly readers. The 108 plates are small circular copper engravings, each ringed by a motto in capitals, showing peasants at a water pump, soldiers seizing a captive, hilltop towers and open landscapes—usable as roundel devices, lettered borders and figure vignettes.
