An annual report volume of Hamburg's scientific institutions and museums, issued in Hamburg by Lucas Gräfe & Sillem from 1883 for curators and naturalists. The plates are numbered lithographic arrays of land-snail shells drawn in soft graphite-like tone, each spiral shown in profile with its aperture, giving designers repeatable conical silhouettes, banded and ribbed surface pattern, and grid layouts of small numbered specimens.
