Japanische Stichblätter und Schwertzieraten : Sammlung Georg Oeder, Düsseldorf : [Katalog]

Vautier, P, Kümmel, Otto, Oeder, Georg, 1846- · 1916 · Berlin : Oesterheld · 158 pictures

A German collection catalogue of Japanese sword guards (tsuba) and sword fittings, compiled by P. Vautier and Otto Kümmel from Georg Oeder's Düsseldorf holdings and published in Berlin in 1916 for collectors, dealers and museum curators. The plates are halftone photographs of individual iron and alloy discs, each shown flat against a plain ground, numbered and sometimes stacked two to a page: pierced openwork silhouettes, plum branches and pine in low relief, and the recurring wedge-and-oval blade and pin openings that read as ready-made circular ornaments, stencils and logo blanks.
