Jezus en de ziel : een geestelyke spiegel voor't gemoed, bestaande in veertig aangenaame en stichtelyke zinnebeelden
A Dutch emblem book of forty plates by Jan Luyken, published in Amsterdam in 1714 by the widow P. Arentz and K. van der Sys, made for pious lay readers as a mirror for the soul. The small upright etchings pair a haloed Christ child with the Soul as a second child in rocky landscapes under skies of close parallel ruling, with radiating light, cherub heads in cloudbanks, birds, and a serpent on the ground; useful for cloud and light-ray textures, two-figure silhouettes, and compact framed vignettes.
