A 1768 Latin natural-history letter printed in Amsterdam at the author's expense, in which the Dutch physician Johann Albert Schlosser described an Amboina lizard for his correspondent Ferdinand Dejean, bound with Pieter Boddaert's accounts of a spotted fish and a soft-shelled turtle for fellow naturalists and collectors. The hand-coloured engravings isolate single specimens on bare paper, pairing dorsal and ventral turtle views with a heavily spiked, dark-speckled fish; useful for cut-out animal silhouettes, shell and scale texture, and fine engraved hatching.
