Johann Joachim Winckelmann's history of ancient art in the 1776 Vienna edition from the Akademischer Verlag, printed by Trattner for German-reading scholars, collectors and artists studying Greek and Roman antiquities. The plates are outline and stipple engravings copying antique reliefs, gems and statues: Prometheus modelling small human figures, helmeted Minerva, seated bearded elders, wrestling nudes framed in plain ovals, useful as classical figure stock, cameo vignettes and hairline contour drawing.
