John Ruskin; a sketch of his life, his work, and his opinions, with personal reminiscences
A short biography of John Ruskin by Marion Harry Spielmann, published in Philadelphia by J. B. Lippincott in 1900 for general readers following the critic's death. The 24 plates are mostly portraits of Ruskin at various ages — wood-engraved head studies, a marble bust photographed against black, a seated full-length drawing, and Millais's painting of him standing on wet rock beside a waterfall — giving designers stipple and line-engraved faces, Victorian frock-coat figures, and high-contrast studio photographs of sculpture.
