The jolly book of boxcraft
A children's craft manual by Patten Beard, published by Frederick A. Stokes in New York in 1914, teaching boys and girls to build toys from cardboard boxes. Halftone photographs show finished models against dark studio backdrops—schoolrooms with tiny dolls at desks, cottages with shutters and cotton-wool chimney smoke, barns, and laid-out cut pieces—useful as period still-life stock and assembly diagrams.
