Journal - Franklin Institute of the State of Pennsylvania
The Journal of the Franklin Institute is a long-running American technical periodical published in Philadelphia from 1826 for engineers, inventors, and patent examiners, carrying papers on machinery, electricity, and applied science. Its plates are hard line engravings of machines drawn in plan, section, and elevation — dynamos, armature windings, coils, and gear trains keyed with letters and figure numbers — useful as diagrammatic mechanical linework and as circular radiating patterns.
