A quarterly journal of microscopy and natural science issued in London from 1884 by the Postal Microscopical Society and the Wesley Naturalists' Society, edited by Alfred Allen for amateur microscopists and field naturalists. Plates group numbered specimens \u2014 foraminifera and other minute shells \u2014 as stippled and hatched engravings on cream stock, giving designers small isolated organic forms with dense shading and coiled, chambered, pitted textures.
