Edited journals and printing records of New York colonial printer Hugh Gaine, published in two volumes by Dodd, Mead & Co. in 1902 for collectors and students of early American typography. The plates reproduce woodcut factotum initials from eighteenth-century American presses: letters set in beaded scrollwork frames, beehive and wheatsheaf emblems, and a harbor scene with ship and rider.
