Kalendarium humanæ vitæ = The kalendar [sic] of mans life

Farley, Robert · 1638 · London : printed [by T. Cotes] for W. Hope · 19 pictures

An emblem book by Robert Farley, printed in London in 1638, pairing Latin mottoes with English translations for readers tracing the ages and seasons of human life. Each page sets a small woodcut scene — courting couples, a boat, a spinning wheel and tavern table, a traveller in a landscape — inside an oval strapwork cartouche with a crowned mask, banner tablets, snails and insects, giving designers ready-made frames, headers and marginal creatures.
