Karl Woermann's 1899 catalogue of the Royal Picture Gallery in Dresden, printed by Wilhelm Hoffmann for curators, collectors and gallery visitors cataloguing the European paintings collection. The plates reproduce painters' signatures, monograms and dated inscriptions traced from the canvases, giving designers a stock of seventeenth-century penmanship, ligatured initials and handwritten numerals in solid black on cream.
