The Kindergarten magazine
A monthly periodical for kindergarten teachers and training students, issued in Chicago by the Kindergarten Magazine Co. from 1891. The plates here are letterpress music engravings cut into short strips: two- to four-bar song fragments on treble and bass staves, with clefs, 2/4 and 6/8 time signatures, beamed eighth notes, crescendo hairpins and mf markings, useful as small typographic ornaments, rule-like horizontal bands, or notation lettering references.
