The kindergarten. A manual for the introduction of Froebel's system of primary education into public schools; and for the use of mothers and private teachers
A teaching manual by Adolf Douai, published in New York by E. Steiger in 1871, setting out Froebel's kindergarten method for public-school teachers, mothers and private tutors. Its plates alternate between engraved song settings with paired English and German lyrics, the German in Fraktur, and green-printed grids of geometric figures built from straight lines — stars, crowns, castellated squares, crosses and numbered rectangles — usable as pattern stock, borders, or music-notation texture.
