Klassischer Bilderschatz
A Munich plate portfolio of 1889, edited by Franz von Reber and Adolph Bayersdorfer for the Verlagsanstalt für Kunst und Wissenschaft, reproducing European paintings for students, teachers and collectors. The plates are monochrome photogravures of Renaissance and Baroque altarpieces, frescoes and lunettes: crowded figure groups, deep architectural perspectives, drapery and arched framing usable as silhouettes, borders and tonal backgrounds.
