Klassischer Bilderschatz
A German plate series reproducing European paintings, edited by Franz von Reber and Adolph Bayersdorfer and issued in Munich from 1889 by the Verlagsanstalt für Kunst und Wissenschaft for art students, teachers and collectors. The 145 monochrome photogravure plates reproduce Renaissance and Baroque altarpieces, donor groups and half-length figure scenes in soft brown-grey tones, useful for crowded figure compositions, period costume and drapery, and architectural backdrops of columns, arches and coffered vaults.
