Knight's heraldic illustrations designed for the use of herald painters and engravers
A pattern book of heraldic devices engraved by Frederick Knight and issued in London by T. Griffiths in 1843 as working copy for herald painters and engravers. Each plate sets a blank scroll-and-acanthus cartouche between four crest figures — goats, lions, bears, griffins, sea-horses, pelicans, armoured supporters — all perched on foliate brackets, giving ready-made frames and beasts for badges and labels.
