Knitting and crocheting
A trade pamphlet of knitting and crochet instructions issued by Brown, Durrell & Co. of Boston in 1885 for home needleworkers buying the firm's yarns and threads. The wood-engraved plates show swatches and finished pieces in dense black line \u2014 lace edgings with scalloped borders, popcorn and shell stitches on the needle, a patterned stocking with tasseled cuff \u2014 usable as textile textures, repeating border strips, and stitch-diagram motifs.
