Knitting : how to knit and what to knit...
A pattern manual by Marie Louise Kerzman, published in Brooklyn by H. Bristow in 1884, instructing home needleworkers in knitted and crocheted lace, edgings and household pieces. The 73 halftone-style plates show sample swatches photographed flat: open mesh grounds, scalloped and pointed borders, zigzag and diamond repeats, usable as textile textures, repeating patterns and border rules.
