Kunstformen der Natur
Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur, issued in ten parts by the Bibliographisches Institut in Leipzig and Vienna from 1899 to 1904, presented lithographed plates of marine invertebrates, protozoa and plants to German general readers as well as naturalists and designers. Each plate arranges jellyfish, radiolarians and flagellates symmetrically on blank ground, in pale ochre, red and grey washes or fine line, supplying radial rosettes, trailing tentacle curves and shell lattices.
