Kunstformen der Natur
Ernst Haeckel's plate portfolio of natural forms, issued in parts by the Bibliographisches Institut in Leipzig and Vienna in 1904 for artists, designers and students of biology. Each lithographed plate arranges polychaetes, jellyfish, lichens and slime moulds symmetrically against black or deep green grounds, giving designers ready-made radial motifs, tentacle silhouettes and printed colour keyed to dark backgrounds.
