The lace book
N. Hudson Moore's 1904 handbook for American collectors and needleworkers, published in New York by Frederick A. Stokes, surveys the types and history of lace. The plates are numbered photographs of lace laid flat against dark grounds, yielding dense repeating diaper nets, scalloped edgings and border strips usable as tileable patterns, frames and rule ornament.
