La critique des sculptures antiques au Musée du Louvre : a propos des catalogues en préparation
A French archaeological pamphlet by Charles Ravaisson-Mollien, printed in Paris in 1876 for the Revue Archéologique, arguing over how the Louvre's antique sculptures should be catalogued and identified. The plates are plain outline engravings of draped marble figures, portrait heads and a seated statue, drawn in even contour lines with light hatching for hair and folds, giving designers clean classical silhouettes and drapery patterns that can be traced, filled or scaled without tonal work.
