Lacunar basilicae Sancti Macarii, aberdonensis : the heraldic ceiling of the cathedral church of St. Machar, old Aberdeen, described in historical and armorial detail by William Duguid Geddes, LL.D., and Peter Duguid
An antiquarian survey of the heraldic ceiling of St Machar's Cathedral, Old Aberdeen, compiled by William Duguid Geddes and Peter Duguid and printed for the New Spalding Club in 1888 for Scottish antiquaries and armorial scholars. The plates are flat colour shields, each on a plain ground with coronet or helm above, using a limited palette of vermilion, gold-brown, black and blue over white, with hard outlines and simple charges — lions rampant, crosses, lozenges, saltires and quartered fields — that reduce cleanly to flat vector shapes, badges and logo marks.
