La décoration primitive : Océanie
A portfolio of Oceanic ornament compiled by Daniel Réal and issued in Paris by the Librairie des arts décoratifs in 1922, for designers and craft workers studying non-European pattern. Halftone plates record carved bamboo containers, shields, masks and incised wood, showing banded borders, triangle friezes, spirals, hatched grounds and stylised faces that convert readily into repeat patterns and border rules.
