The lady's assistant for executing useful and fancy designs in knitting, netting and crochet work...
A needlework instruction manual by Jane Gaugain, published in Edinburgh in 1847 for ladies working knitting, netting, and crochet from written patterns. The plates are line engravings of net and mesh samples seen flat and close up: diamond lattices, looped hexagons, knotted junctions, and open diagonal grids usable as repeating patterns, textures, screens, or line-drawn backgrounds.
