The lady's assistant for executing useful and fancy designs in knitting, netting and crochet work...
A needlework pattern manual by Jane Gaugain, published in Edinburgh in 1847 for women working knitting, netting and crochet at home. The plates are dense black-and-white engravings of lace swatches — open grids, scalloped edgings, banded stripes and looped medallions — usable as repeat patterns, textile textures, border rules and high-contrast ornamental fills.
