L'ancien art bulgare
A French-language survey of early Bulgarian art by the archaeologist Bogdan Filov, published in Paris in 1922 for scholars and museum readers. The plates are coarse-grained halftone photographs of medieval church frescoes, donor groups in patterned court dress, saints holding church models and scrolls with Cyrillic inscriptions, a carved and gilded iconostasis, and an illuminated manuscript page with a scrolling interlace border; useful for high-contrast tonal texture, lettering forms, and ornament motifs.
