La peinture française au XIXe siècle
A survey of nineteenth-century French painting written by critic George Besson and issued in Paris by the photographic publisher Braun for French readers and art students. Its plates are monochrome halftone reproductions of paintings, many printed sideways on the page: wooded riverbanks, a hillside village, a bust portrait of a woman, and a harbour rendered in pointillist dots that break down into usable grain.
