La peinture : poëme en trois chants

Le Mierre, M. (Antoine-Marin), 1723-1793, Cochin, Charles Nicolas, 1715-1790 · 1769 · A Paris : Chez le Jay, libraire ... · 5 pictures

Antoine-Marin Lemierre's didactic poem on painting in three cantos, printed in Paris in 1769 for readers of verse and connoisseurs of the arts, with plates drawn by Charles-Nicolas Cochin the younger and engraved by Augustin de Saint-Aubin. The engravings pair allegorical groups—winged genii, draped muses holding mirrors and flowers, a sculpted urn, a model fortress—with a laurel-framed oval portrait of Corneille on a ribbon motto, offering figure groups, ruled ornamental borders, and cartouche frames.
