La pittura in giudicio, ouero, Il bene delle oneste pitture e'l male delle oscene
A 1697 Italian treatise by the Jesuit Carlo Gregorio Rosignoli arguing the moral case for devout painting and against obscene images, printed in Milan by Giuseppe Malatesta for clerical and lay readers. The index holds the book's typographic ornament rather than its argument: square woodcut initials in which letters are locked inside five-petalled roses and rows of hatched leaves, plus small flowering-plant blocks, all printed with the broken edges and paper tone of coarse relief cutting.
