La pittvra trionfante
Giulio Cesare Gigli's verse treatise on painting and painters, printed in Venice by Giovanni Alberti in 1615 with contributions tied to Odoardo Fialetti and Palma il Giovane, addressed to artists and their patrons. The surviving images are square woodcut initials — M, N, C — built from acanthus scrolls, tendrils and tucked animal heads, usable as drop caps, borders or ornament stock.
