La Roma sotterranea cristiana
Giovanni Battista de Rossi's La Roma sotterranea cristiana, issued in Rome in 1864 by the papal chromolithographic press, is a scholarly survey of the Christian catacombs for archaeologists, epigraphers and church historians. Plates and cuts include red-line gallery plans lettered with Latin inscriptions, hatched diagrams of grave niches and corridor crossings, and outline drawings of broken marble fragments useful as maps, grids and irregular silhouettes.
