La Roma sotterranea cristiana
A scholarly archaeological survey of the Christian catacombs of Rome, compiled by Giovanni Battista de Rossi and issued in Rome in 1864 by the pontifical chromolithographic press for church historians and epigraphers. The plates pair traced facsimiles of scratched graffiti and loculus slabs with measured elevations of arched tomb niches, giving designers loose hand-drawn Greek and Latin letterforms, tally-like incised marks, and scaled architectural sections of masonry.
