French translation by François de Paule Latapie of Thomas Whately's treatise on English landscape gardening, printed in Paris by Charles-Antoine Jombert in 1771 for readers following the new taste in garden design. The plates here are letterpress ornament: banded rule frames filled with small foliate sprigs and a sunburst, and a crowned monogram enclosing a profile portrait medallion, usable as borders, spot ornaments and device marks.
