Chaptal's 1807 Paris manual on dyeing cotton Turkey red, issued by the Crapelet press for manufacturers and chemists setting up dyehouses. Engraved plates give floor plans, sections and perspective views of workshop interiors: plank floors and brick walls in fine ruled hatching, benches pierced with rows of oval vat holes, drying frames, trestles and a stepped stone platform.
