L'art de laver, ou, Nouvelle maniere de peindre sur le papier : suivant le coloris des desseins qu'on envoye à la cour
A French technical manual on wash drawing and watercolour tinting of plans and maps, written by engineer Henri Gautier and printed at Lyon by Thomas Amaulry in 1687 for draughtsmen preparing drawings for the court. The plates are letterpress ornaments: woodcut headpieces with cherub masks and foliage, a putti-and-cartouche band, scrolled tailpieces, and a leaf-filled initial L.
