La sculpture égyptienne

Soldi, Émile Arthur, 1846- · 1876 · Paris, E. Leroux · 46 pictures

A French study of Egyptian sculpture by Émile Soldi, published in Paris by Ernest Leroux in 1876 for archaeologists, art historians and museum readers. Wood-engraved line cuts record statue heads, headless torsos, fragments with hieroglyphic columns, and tomb-painting profiles of foreign racial types, built from close parallel hatching against blank paper, giving designers isolated carved forms and outline figure drawing that cut out cleanly.
