La Tour
A small 1907 art monograph on the French pastel portraitist Maurice Quentin de La Tour (1704–1788), issued in Boston by Bates and Guild for art students and print collectors. Nineteen halftone plates reproduce his bust-length pastels of court sitters against plain dark grounds, offering soft-edged faces, powdered wigs, lace fichus, bonnets and ribbon bows, and a narrow grey tonal range useful for duotone and vignetted portrait work.
