A French alchemical treatise attributed to Salomon Trismosin, printed in Paris by Charles Sevestre in 1612 for readers pursuing the philosophers' stone. The pictures indexed here are small woodcut initial letters, some printed white on a black ground and some in open outline, filled with acanthus scrolls, vine leaves, rosettes and biting animal heads; useful as drop caps, ornament fragments, or texture at the coarse inked scale of early letterpress.
