Herculaneum, past, present & future
An archaeological survey of Herculaneum by Charles Waldstein, published in London by Macmillan in 1908 for scholars and advocates of renewed excavation. Plates combine tinted Stanford maps of Campania and the buried town, long fold-out ground plans of the Villa Suburbana, and halftones of Greco-Roman wall paintings with visible cracks and losses.
