Leather for libraries
A 1905 London technical report on bookbinding leathers by E. Wyndham Hulme and collaborators, issued by the Library Supply Co. for librarians and binders judging which skins survive shelf wear. The plates are mounted specimen swatches photographed flat: tan, ochre and russet hides in narrow rectangles, some smooth and mottled, others with fine pebbled grain or a folded pale corner, useful as scanned paper-and-hide textures, muted color chips, and quiet background fills.
