Leaves from conjurers' scrap books, or, Modern magicians and their works
A compilation of stage-magic anecdotes, performer biographies and trick explanations assembled by conjurer H. J. Burlingame and published in Chicago in 1891 for amateur magicians and theatre-goers. Loose pen-and-ink line drawings show evening-dressed performers with cloths and severed heads, cutaway views of gimmicked tables and chairs, and startled spectators, with one black-ground cut reversing figures to white; useful for stage-illusion diagrams, dry-brush hatching and comic reaction faces.
