Leaves from conjurers' scrap books : or, Modern magicians and their works
Hardin J. Burlingame's 1891 Chicago compilation of anecdotes, biographies and trick explanations drawn from conjurers' scrapbooks, published by Donohue, Henneberry & Co. for amateur magicians and theatre-goers. The line drawings show evening-dressed performers producing severed heads, sheets and rabbits, plus cutaway diagrams of rigged tables, mirrors and hidden compartments, several set in heavy black grounds with ragged hand-cut borders.
