Le chancre ou couvre-sein féminin : ensemble le voile ou couvre-chef féminin
A reprint of Jean Polman's 1635 French moral tract against low-cut bodices, issued in Geneva by J. Gay et fils in 1868 with notes by Gustave Brunet, writing as Philomneste, for collectors of curious and erotic bibliography. The plates are typographic ornaments in the seventeenth-century manner: symmetrical headpieces and tailpieces built from bearded grotesque masks, scrolling acanthus, paired mermaids holding a laurel branch, and a shield beneath an open book, all usable as small black-and-white rules, vignettes and section breaks.
