Le chevalier délibéré
A facsimile edition of the woodcuts from Olivier de la Marche's allegorical verse poem Le chevalier délibéré, edited by Friedrich Lippmann and printed in London for the Bibliographical Society in 1898 for collectors and students of early printed books. The full-page cuts are drawn in plain outline with sparse hatching: mounted knights jousting, crowned allegorical figures beside tombs, and riders in hilly landscapes with walled towns, nearly every figure tagged by a lettered ribbon scroll that designers can lift as ready-made label devices.
