Le cose maravigliose dell'alma citta di Roma : anfiteatro del mondo
A 1600 Roman guidebook to the city's churches and antiquities, published by Giovanni Antonio Franzini and the heir of Girolamo Franzini for pilgrims and visitors, with an appendix by Prospero Parisio. The 204 small woodcuts show church facades in frontal elevation, labelled in capitals, with hatched roofs, stippled brick and stone, campaniles and stepped forecourts; useful for compact architectural vignettes, lettered plaques and texture-by-line shading.
