Le Costume au Moyen âge d'après les sceaux ...
A study of medieval dress drawn from French seal matrices and impressions, compiled by archivist Germain Demay and published in Paris in 1880 for antiquaries, heraldists and costume historians. The 326 line drawings trace bishops with croziers, mailed knights with kite shields, and women in heraldic gowns under Gothic arches, giving designers clean outline figures, hatched textile patterns and armorial motifs.
